I recently adopted a shepherd/collie mix puppy and have been using towels in the bottom of her crate as we've been house-breaking her. I wanted to give her something a little more plush as she got better about crate-training, but I didn't want anything too thick since she has a ton of fur and it's almost summer.I read a few reviews where people were complaining that it was as thin as a towel, but y'all must be using some plush-ass towels because the pad I got in the mail is the perfect thickness. I'd say it's about as thick as four or five towels laid flat on top of each other, but it's much softer and squishier, if that makes sense. It's not as thick as her bed that she uses outside the crate, but I wanted something thinner than that so I could throw it in my washing machine.I have a 36.5"x23" crate and this fits perfectly inside it. I also love that it comes in various colors; she's brown and black so I bought the brown to hide the fur that will undoubtedly get all over it.This is the second i've purchased, of these beds, which I got for my labs smaller travel crate. Both this and the larger bed wash beautifully and my lab loves them. She immediately tore up the foam bed, but has not harmed these. Every morning she pulls her bed out of her crate, for daytime lounging. One caution - they are not nearly as thick as advertised - only about 2 inches, at best. I use an old quilt for extra padding underneath. However, the durability, ease of laundering and my labs approval make these beds a very worthwhile purchase. It's soft, it's plush, it's huge, but super not the color I ordered, not that my color blind dog cares. But when one ordered green (to match the surrounding browns) and gets seafoam blue, there's definitely a clash.Aside from that, my 55lb+ gsd loves to lay on it, has an area to relax, and chew her bones on it. All in all, I'd buy again for the upstairsAs shown in the picture, this is not a very thick bed for your pet. But it was what we needed because for some reason our dog does not like a lot of padding, he will push up anything thick and lay on the bare tray. So I was looking for something soft and not very thick - and this does not seem to bother him, other than him wanting to chew the corner & pull the stuffing out! But I can't blame the vendor for that issue... haha. This is a nice plush crate pad. I put it inside one of the crates, and the next day I noticed my 3 month old puppy going into the crate. He thought it was a nice dark spot for pooping. (It wasn't HIS crate. LOL!) So, of course, the pad had to be washed. I washed it in cold water & only put it in the dryer for a few minutes on delicate setting. The pad shrank significantly and doesn't come close to covering the bottom of the crate anymore. It also bunched up a bit. I'd go up to the next larger size on this one -- that will allow for shrinkage. My pups look so comfy on this crate bed. I don't use crates so this pad lays directly on the floor. The product picture doesn't do it justice. The padding is much thicker than the picture depicts. The faux fur cover is very soft. I do think my dogs may get too warm (summertime at time of review) when laying on it because each dog eventually moves to the bare floor. I have washed and dried it once (wash: warm, normal cycle; dry: extra low heat), and had no problems. It is so nice to just pick up the pad and throw it in the machine. I would definitely purchase a Sofantex pad again.Works great in the dog's portable dog crate - I bought the NOZTONOZ Sof-Krate Indoor/Outdoor Pet Home for my corgi and it fits perfectly in it. This and the crate, live in my car, for trips so I can't really speak to long-term use. So far, he hasn't ripped it up and he has no problem laying down. Soft and sturdy. Relatively easy to vacuum.Plus the price can't be beat so it's easily replaced. This is my second time buying this. The first one was eaten. After some more training i tried again and so far so good. Its very soft and fits my large kennel perfect.
